WE ARE LIVING A DECISIVE MOMENT IN THE HISTORY OF HUMANITY. The environmental crisis intensifies and threatens life on Earth. Billionaires and trillionaires profit from exploitation, destruction and wars. A declining empire tries to prolong its dominance by force and drags the world into a spiral of violence, intolerance, colonization, apartheid and genocide. The future seems increasingly difficult. BUT THERE ARE THOSE WHO RESIST.

I am Thiago Ávila, a little ant among millions (perhaps billions) of people who decided to rise up. We are the free peoples of the world: people who refuse to accept exploitation, oppression and the destruction of Nature as destiny. People who dedicate their lives to building a society of Good Living. I am 39 years old and, since I was 18, I chose this purpose. As a socio-environmentalist, I helped build biome regeneration projects, agroforestry systems and bioconstruction in peasant, Indigenous and urban communities. As an internationalist and communicator, I organized global solidarity actions and, over the years, helped turn a journey into community and resistance.

Over time, I understood that it is not enough to get your feet in the mud and your hands in the dough: we must confront those who want to destroy the world and life.

CONFRONTING THIS SYSTEM ON THE FRONT LINES HAS CONSEQUENCES. In the last five years, I was unjustly imprisoned and attacked while defending rights in the peripheries, organizing flotillas to Gaza and participating in other actions. Just in the last year, I was kidnapped three times in historic Palestine occupied by Israel, held in solitary confinement, subjected to threats, torture and isolation, without being able to speak to my family. They lie, accuse, impose sanctions and try to prevent me from speaking to people. THEY FEAR A LOT. NOT THIAGO. THEY FEAR A MESSAGE.

They have money, power, weapons, bombs, hate and violence. But that is all they have.

We, the free peoples of the world, have everything else: collectivity, solidarity, love for our families and communities and hope. It is not easy to survive in a society that was not made for us, but WE WILL BUILD THIS NEW WORLD.

When the first invitations came to run for Federal Deputy in 2026, I refused. I talked with my family and understood that, at that moment, my focus should remain on international missions and confronting the forces that promote war, oppression and genocide.

But the situation changed. The risks to my life increased, as did the consequences for my family and for our movements. And the destroyers of the world turned their sights to Brazil and Latin America. THEY ATTACK COUNTRIES, INTERVENE IN DEMOCRACIES, RIG ELECTIONS AND ADVANCE THROUGH FEAR AND MANIPULATION IN THEIR PROJECT TO STRANGLE OUR REGION.

Brazil is strategic in this dispute. The next election will carry immense weight for our country and for the future of humanity. Therefore, I listened to communities here and in different parts of the world and, understanding the historic responsibility of this moment, DECIDED TO ACCEPT THE INVITATION TO RUN FOR A SEAT AS FEDERAL DEPUTY IN THE NEXT ELECTIONS.

It is more than an election. It is OUR FUTURE. Brazil can become a great world power of life. We have water, the largest river and the largest tropical forest in the world; we have 220 million hardworking people who deserve to live with dignity and achieve Good Living. We are one of the richest countries and, at the same time, one of the most unequal. We are among those who most murder environmentalists, Indigenous people and victims of intolerance and hate. But no empire or hateful force is greater than the strength of organized peoples. EVERY ACHIEVEMENT THAT CHANGED THE WORLD WAS BORN OF ORDINARY PEOPLE WHO DECIDED NOT TO ACCEPT THAT CHANGE WAS IMPOSSIBLE.
